Properly Installing Your Child's Car Seat

Alysia Brady

Is your child's car seat properly installed?

This is one of the most important questions any new or experienced parents should ask themselves. The Cincinnati Insurance Company has provided a few important statistics and tips that we can all learn from. Whether you're a new parent, experienced parent, grandparent or nanny, these are tips you may want to pay attention to!

From the year 2007 until 2011 more than 3,600 children were killed in car accidents. More than a third of those children were killed because they were not in a car seat or the seat was not properly installed. These are frightening facts that I hope catch your attention to read on.

The website gives some great tips about car seats. Here are a few points I picked out:

1. Find a car seat that fits your child. As your child grows, be sure to look at the height and weight limits on your car seat to be sure your child has not outgrown the seat. Also, pay attention to whether or not your child's seat should be rear-facing or forward-facing. You can find the new guidelines HERE.

2. Make sure that the car seat fits your vehicle. Not all seats fit all vehicles. It is important to buy a car seat that can be installed and used correctly EVERY TIME!

A blogger from the Cincinnati Insurance Company, Steve Smith, shared his story about his family's experience that I encourage you to read. You can find it at:
