Medical Open Enrollment Almost Over!

Medical Open Enrollment will soon come to an end! February 15th, 2015 is the deadline to obtain coverage! So, don't be caught between a rock and a hard place by waiting too long! We have gathered some important information for you from www.healthcare.gov.

The fee for not having coverage in 2014

     If you did not have coverage in 2014, you will pay the HIGHER of the two:

  • $95 per person for the year ($47.50 per child under 18).
  • 1% of your yearly household income.

      These fees will be taken out of your 2014 federal income tax return when you file in early 2015 unless you are exempt.

The fee for not having coverage in 2015 (not having coverage in place by Feb.15th, 2015)

      If you do not have coverage in 2015, you will pay the HIGHER of the two:

  • $325 per person for the year ($162.50 per child under 18).
  • 2% of your yearly household income.

      These fees will be taken out of your 2015 federal income tax return when you file in early 2016 unless you are exempt.

The penalty will increase every year! In 2016 it will be 2.5% of income or $695 per person!
